About the RAH!

What is the RAH?

We’re glad you asked.

RAH! stands for Run Against Hunger because it’s a food drive with all net proceeds to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, which provides food for families and children in need right here in our own area.

RAH! is the sound of an entire community coming together to do something really worth cheering for.

The RAH! features a 1-mile fun run, a 5K run/walk, a 10K and The Second Helping Club (those brave enough to do the 5K and 10K). Which means that from the avid runner to the casual walker, everyone helps make the Ardmore RAH! the premier race event in the Triad.

Participants get the opportunity to challenge themselves physically and to make a big difference for people in need — while having an amazing time doing both.

History

Members of Redeemer Church and the Ardmore Neighborhood Association founded the Ardmore 5K 15 years ago. Our goal was to strengthen the community by uniting for a meaningful cause: fighting hunger. More than $155,000 has been donated to Second Harvest Food Bank — $20,500 last year alone. In 2013, the addition of a 10K led us to rename the Ardmore 5K to the Run Against Hunger – the RAH! The expanded event has drawn more participants, generated more excitement and raised more money and awareness of the fight against hunger.
